The birthstone of March, Aquamarine comes from the phrase 'Water of the Sea' and was believed to be of sacred value in ancient times, especially to the Romans and Greeks. A roman legend states that the stone has the ability to absorb the atmosphere of young love, 'When blessed and worn, it will do great things when joint with love', while another legend says that it serves as a stone to reconcile enemies and to turn them into friends.
Both ancient Greeks and Romans believed this stone to be a sailor's stone that protected them during their sea travels, granting them safe and prosperous passage.
The Sumerians and Egyptians valued it as a good luck charm and a stone that brought about happiness and youth through its vibration while writers of the middle ages and ancient literature often refer to this stone as a divining tool of purity.
