Earth Hour 2015
Posted on March 31 2015
"The Earth Does Not Belong To Us; We Belong To The Earth..."
Gaia, a place we call home; yet we scorch the lands, slay the living and pollute the air. We rape the lands, let waste flow through the waters and destroy habitats, ruining the homes of animals and wildlife while claiming to be the superior power on this planet; forgetting that we are only living here on borrowed time; moments in time that will be lost forever if we don't start creating the life that we wish.
There was a time where it wasn't always like this; a time where we understood the secrets of a balanced life, the importance of co-existence and the non-importance of possession; knowing that the only true possession is all that is and not the fight to increase the size of our pockets in hopes of enriching our lives. In this modern age, preserving and nourishing the earth comes secondary as opposed to using Mother Earth as a source of increasing our wealth.
"We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children..."
Some things needs to be changed; we must stop this act of selfishness, greed and cruelty. We need to understand the value of life again, listen to the cries of pain and unravel the very essence of existence; the gift of life...
Moving forward doesn't mean dwelling in the past...It just does not need to include toxic waters and balded mountains, black smoke and grey lights, red lands and green fumes; it means moving forward with the marriage of ancient wisdom and modern innovation. Sometimes the only way forward is backwards.
"Take nothing but memories; leave nothing but footprints..."
We want to be part of change; joining millions around the world who have already begun to see the light. There is no doubt that we are living in a historical and extraordinary time on this planet. This will be the last generation to witness men's foolish mistakes on the environment; and the first to undo those mistakes.
Being our first year in business and the first of our lifelong quest to aid in healing the planet, WTF went all out in spreading the awareness of saving the planet for the future of our children. We switched off every single light in our outlet except our signboard; which also meant the loss of business during a peak period on a peak day (Saturday evening) where everyone shops as it is the end of the month, but what we gained in return was something money can never buy. The joy of making a difference and being the difference; the joy of sharing our quest with like-minded individuals and the joy of love.
We encouraged passer-bys to join us by lighting a candle, with each candle being a vote for the future, a vote for our children, a vote for Gaia. Though many were shy, there were still a few whistle blowers willing to step up to make a change. We were 34 short of reaching our target of 100 lighted candles; nevertheless, it was still Worth The Fun...
Such an enlightening experience it has been and we are looking forward to bigger things in the coming days. Here are some pictures of the event...Have fun and hope you enjoyed the read. Do share this out and follow us on our social networks (Facebook / Instagram) for more interesting events in our quest to create a better world through fashion...
